Belco Forest Products is a growing leader in manufacture and distribution of exterior wood trim as well as decorative and structural wood products for the building industry.
We are currently looking for a Market Development Manager for the Colorado, Nevada, Arizona and California markets.
The Market Development Manager is an outside sales role that achieves maximum wood volume sales growth and market penetration while supporting maximum revenue generation and profitability at all levels within an assigned geographical region and occasional travel to bordering states. The MDM will maintain existing business, identify, and develop new business through existing and new distribution channels for the residential and multifamily markets. They will also work closely with builders, users, specifiers, dealers, and distributors to secure preference and written specification for our product. Reporting to the Director of Sales, the MDM will be responsible for identifying customer needs, forecast sales growth, and develop relationships with key users and decision makers.

- Maintain relationships with existing customers and develop new customer relationships
- Advance our desired market share position by creating value to customers
- Develop and deliver a high level of sales calls, contacts presentations and follow-up communications to close sales in a professional manner, while achieving established sales/revenue goals
- Manage all daily activities through the company CRM
- Communicate the full value derived from our products, service and system solutions
- Be self-motivated, a team player and accessible to customer needs
- Prospect for new business-to-business (B2B), and builder/end user pull through opportunities
- Be a technical expert on the Belco line of products and the use/durability of each, integrating value into customer strategic goals
- Cultivate relationships and secure product specifications with designers, architects, building owners, contractors, builders, dealers, and distributors
- Monitor competition by gathering current market information; pricing, products/new products, delivery schedules etc.
- Manage customer complaints with solutions recommendations to management

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in a home office and will be provided with their own computer workstation and mobile telephone. This position often is required to drive a personal motor vehicle to customer offices and development sites. Belco highly values employee safety. When driving while on official company business, all safety guidelines regarding distracted driving should be observed, including use of cell phones and other electronic devices.
The MDM typically works in a quiet low stress environment. However, the environment may become more stressful when pending business deadlines and requirements must be met.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Company days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 40 hours per week and is a salaried position. Work outside of typical business hours may be necessary to fulfill the requirements of this role.
Travel
This position requires at least 50% travel to fulfill the responsibilities of this role and is reflective of the demands in your assigned market(s).
Education, Experience and Demonstrated Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in business or construction related fields preferred and/or equivalent of five-years of sales or construction experience
- Proven record in the sales process and account management
- Exceptional time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must have valid driver’s license in good standing, reliable car, and willing to drive/travel over 50% of their time
- Five years’ experience with distribution channels, and specifically the construction industry preferred
- Five years’ experience in strategic value-added sales
- Strong aptitude in consultative sales, and persuasive skills
- Understand and apply SWOT and market analysis/impacts etc.
- Phone skills
- Proven Cold Calling
- Ability to identify all decision makers in the selection, specification, purchase and use of our products
- Superior listening and processing skills

- Must live in Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, or California
