From a structural point of view, both cedar and primed white wood fascia offer similar values.  Cedar is slightly more stable than PWW meaning the barge at the gable ends will be slightly more resistant to supping and twisting.

However, providing an adequate nailing area by providing fascia to tie the barge into takes care of 95% of the reasons for cupping to begin with.

Since standard PWW is not preservative treated, cedar may seem like the best option for fascia, but we haven’t talllied the costs yet.  Cedar is TWICE as costly as PWW.  Yikes.

Fortunately, there is a perfect solution to finding the ideal product for fascia that is also budget-friendly.
