Case Study: Tacara at Dove Creek (San Antonio)

This 321 unit Class A garden style apartment complex consists of 11 buildings, outdoor pool and amenity clubhouse. Belco supplied all of the exterior millwork which totaled more than 20,000 board feet. Unlike size-constrained fiber cement or engineered wood, the design team used a variety of thicknesses, widths and lengths to their advantage. Exterior windows were trimmed with 2×4, Belly bands were 2×12, garage jambs 2×8 and the roofline was handled by 2×6 with 1×2 drip edges. Multiple lengths help reduce waste and ultimately are quite cost effective as this project used a large amount of less expensive 14 and 18 footers to get the job done.
