Director of Sales and Marketing

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

The Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for managing all Belco product distribution channels, and deployment of sales for the organization. This position is responsible for developing strategic sales and marketing plans based on company goals that will promote sales growth and customer satisfaction for the organization. Specific responsibilities include business and market development, customer management, management of market research, strategic direction for promotion and advertising, sales growth, and customer satisfaction. The Director will also oversee the sales and marketing team members’ daily activity and development.

  • Effectively participate as a member of the Senior Leadership Team to assist in formulating the Company’s future direction to include providing insights and recommendations to both short-term and long-term Sales and Marketing strategies.
  • Participate in pivotal decisions as they relate to formulating the Company’s future direction, strategic initiatives and Sales & Marketing models and goals.
  • Working with the Senior Leadership Team, identify, develop and execute analysis of business initiatives, product launches and/or new service offerings.
  • Create and establish yearly Sales & Marketing objectives that align with the Company’s future direction.
  • Support tactical cross-functional initiatives to meet Company goals and objectives.
  • Promote Belco’s existing products and, in alignment with organizational short- and long-term goals, when appropriate, recommend new products for the forest products industry.
  • Analyzing budgets, preparing annual budget plans, scheduling expenditures, and ensuring that the Sales & Marketing team meets its sales goals.
  • Researching and developing marketing opportunities and plans, understanding consumer requirements, identifying market trends, and suggesting system improvements to achieve the company’s sales and marketing goals.
  • Gathering, investigating, and summarizing market data and trends for reporting and potential actions.
  • Implementing new sales plans and advertising.
  • Coaching, development and managing the Sales & Marketing team to meet position expectations and objectives.
  • Ensure relationships with important customers are maintained and built by regional Marketing Development Managers.
  • Staying current in the industry by attending educational opportunities, conferences, and workshops, reading publications, and maintaining personal and professional networks.

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in Business Management or other relevant field of study preferred; Graduate degree in Business Administration (MBA) preferred.
  • 10 years minimum experience as a leader in the forest products industry required.
  • 15+ years total Sales & Marketing experience required.
  • Outstanding knowledge and understanding of the forest products industry.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and presentation skills required.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence and executive presence – ability to motivate and manage staff.
  • Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Significant experience working with external auditors, internal controls and compliance.

Supervisory and Management Responsibility

This position manages the Sales & Marketing team which is comprised of regional Market Development Managers.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in an office with a collection of administrative and business professionals. This position works in a private office for privacy with its own computer workstation, laptop and desk, and mobile telephones.

The Sales & Marketing Vice President typically works in a quiet environment. The environment may be highly stressful when pending business deadlines and requirements must be met.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time salaried position. This position may require long hours to meet business requirements. Schedule may consist of nights, overtime, weekend, and holiday work; schedule flexibility is required.

Travel

This position requires travel in order to meet business requirements.
